On its twelfth anniversary, Myers Mortuary and Cremation Services announced the acquisition of the former Trezevant Funeral Home (5716 Koon Rd Columbia, SC 29203), a historic location documented as South Carolina’s first Black funeral home and crematorium. This expansion will allow the Myers family business to serve the North Main community, an area where the business first launched in 2009 before relocating to its current location of three years. This Monday, August 16, 2021, the second location will officially open for business.
After opening its doors in 2009, Myers Mortuary and Cremation Services moved to its newest and fully renovated location in 2018, located in the Northeast community (2624 Alpine Road Columbia, SC 29223). Led by Columbia native and a 26-year industry professional and Managing Director Brian W. Myers, Myers Mortuary and Cremation Services has provided families across the country with funeral, memorial, cremation, and burial services following the loss of a loved one and pre-planning services for those who wish to consider advance arrangements. Their motto, “Serving Families with Excellence”, captures the dedication provided by its professional staff through their personalized services, access to updated technology, and full-service facilities.
The former Trezevant Funeral Home closed in 2014 following the death of its owner Mr. Ezekial H. Trezvant Jr. Under the new ownership of Myers, the 5,534 square foot facility has been newly renovated and will be a space dedicated to additional viewing and meeting spaces, and will feature their in-house crematory.
