The Columbia Streams Art program micro-grants will provide 20 local artists with grants ranging from $500 to $1,500. The goal of the art project grant funding must fall into one of these three categories:
Amplifying the rich history and story of Columbia, South Carolina.
Improve and expand public knowledge of our rivers, the Saluda, the Broad, and the Congaree, and encourage public activity at river access sites.
Furthering sustainability with a focus on topics like climate change, heat reduction, beautification, and conservation.
Eligibility Requirements
The micro-grants are only open to artists who live in or work in the Columbia, SC area.
You are a professional visual artist or an artist team and preferably have been publically exhibited in the Columbia or larger South Carolina area.
You are a US citizen or can be authorized to work in the United States.
You create art or artwork well suited for public spaces.
You are 18+ years old.
Allowable Expenses:
Software or creative platforms such as Adobe, CorelDraw, Canva Premium, etc or other technological applications, exhibition materials, design materials, installation, insurance, and any other costs associated with creating the artwork.
Non-Allowable Expenses:
Social activities, entertainment, general operating expenses, sub-granting, courses/coursework in degree-granting institutions, lobbying, voter activities, and/or capital expenses.
Micro-grant Selection Criteria:
Is the Artwork reflective of the Goals?
Aesthetic quality of conceptual design.
Longevity of project
Accessibility of the project to the public
The selection panel will score each application on a rubric against the requirements and selection criteria, and then review and make a recommendation for each application. A contract with between the City of Columbia and the selected artist will be executed upon approval.
